Hello all,
This is my first time posting but I have browsed on the forums for a while. I currently own a ~£700 new integrated graphics dual-core 7th gen i7 laptop but need more power for video editing. My question is whether you think I should buy a low-mid range gaming laptop (£500-£800) mostly for video editing but sometimes gaming. The alternative is building a LAN setup that would have to be portable for around the same budget. My unique situation is that I have to be moving to 2 houses every week and currently don't have peripherals for PC at either house (apart from hdmi TV's I use for Xbox). I know the PC would be cheaper for higher quality but I would like to know your opinion (given my situation) of:
1. Laptop or Small PC
2. Which laptop / PC build you would recommend
3. If you have an alternative option you may recommend

I would be happy to get your responses,
thanks,
Lewis.

In your case, a laptop may be better unless you keep monitors/keyboar/mouse in both places. The other issue that may be a factor is that moving a desktop, even a small one, poses a bit more danger to something breaking than moving a laptop.

Is your budget including selling your laptop?

Well I could most likely sell my current laptop for about £450-500 based on other sales on ebay. I bought it new at about 800 or so dollars in America when I was there about a year and a half ago. I would probably allocate £500 from the laptop plus another £300-£350 for the laptop or PC with a cheap mech keyboard(magicforce68 because it's cheap and small and mouse?). Would you have any recomendations in the laptop department?
An idea of a small pc is: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/7LQnm8
What do you think of these laptops: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834154733&cm_re=msi-_-34-154-733-_-Product

Note: I did some research and realised PC needs better cpu than gpu for video editing so i7HQ laptop cpu would be better than i5HQ even with lower GPU
