Hey!
I got a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop, which is about 4 years old.
Lately, it has been overheating really easily. It just being on standby is making it hot.
I have ran AV and Anti malware program, also updated drivers.
I have a laptop cooling pad, which doesnt seem to help at all
I will add more info if needed

Solution

Yes that would mean opening it up. It's not something to do it yourself if you are not a guy that builts PC's yourself.
Only thing you could also try is to just clean it up. The heatsinks.
Do you run the laptop a lot? For really long runs at a time?
In that case I know it shouldn't but your cooling paste has probably dried out and stopped working properly.
Changing the paste has solved similar issue's for me a couple of times.

I have had long run with it but yesterday I just booted it and it got hot within an hour.
If I may ask, how do I change it. Opening the laptop feels risky, since I never opened them before.
