[SOLVED] laptop overheats

HP Probook 645, Windows 10
Overheats 90+ c (Core Temp app) only when streaming/watching video or sites with graphics and is plugged in,
on battery power temp goes down to 65-80.
Battery is older holds charge half as long as it used to.

If you've had it for some time, and this only started recently, then I'd suspect either fan failure, or you simply need to replace the thermal paste, as it does dry up after a few years.
Perhaps both of the above.

Likely need to change the battery too; they don't last forever either.

Why do you think it only occurs when it's plugged in?

Because plugged in allows the laptop to run at full power.
It doesn't run at 100% on battery.
