Laptop prioritizing MS Basic Display Adapter instead of Intel HD Graphics

[strike]Hello. I have a Inspiron 7520 running an AMD Radeon 7700 and an Intel HD Graphics 4000. I used to have lots of overheating problems, which might have toasted my AMD GPU and, therefore, disabled it. So since the dedicated is dead, I'd like to use my integrated, but I can't find a way to do it.
I was forced to disable and delete my AMD driver, downgrading it to a MS Basic Display Adapter. But my laptop refuses to use the Intel for some reason. The BIOS has nothing about display adapters, and in my devices manager I have two:
- Microsoft Basic Display Adapter (with an arrow pointing down) (note: it's on top, before the Intel)
- Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 (with the GPU icon)
I'm not sure what to do here, because it's telling me that the Intel is being used. However I'm 100% sure it's not, because of the lower resolution and FPS on games (I used to play some games with the integrated GPU, so I know how it was).
Thank you in advance!

EDIT1: also, I can't edit the screen brightness or some other monitor preferences that I used to do when using Intel.

EDIT2: well, the post is a little confusing, so here's the summary of this problem:
1. Using Intel and AMD with no problems
2. AMD stops working and Intel can't be used anymore
3. Currently running with a MS Basic Display Adapter after uninstalling AMD driver
Objective: being able to boot Windows with the integrated GPU as default display adapter[/strike]

UPDATE: it seems that my Insyde H20 A11 has the Primary Display Adapter configuration inside the advanced tab, but it's locked. I need to find a way to unlock it.

In the BIOS, it would be called the iGPU or something along those lines referring to integrated on board graphics.

Also, the MS Display drivers are generic. You need to download the Intel graphics drivers from the support page for your laptop, or from Intel website for your exact CPU if they are not on the laptop support page.

There are no such thing in my BIOS. I basically tried every single configuration there, but couldn't get it to work. I know that for most people, the BIOS is the place to fix my problem, but I need to find another way.
My Intel driver is installed and updated according to Intel website. The laptop will choose the dedicated GPU driver, even though it's the generic MS BDA, without caring if the Intel driver is updated or even installed, it just won't use it.
