Been searching for this info for a while so I thought I would ask you guys.

I have an older but nice HP Pavilion zx5280us (in the zx5000 family) and I was wondering what processors if any I could upgrade it with. It came with an "Intel Pentium 4 processor 3.2GHz with HT Technology, 800MHz FSB." A core 2 is probably too much to ask for but it doesn't hurt to ask.

The HP documentation sucks, I can't find much more information on my system. Belarc Advisor says that the mainboard is an Hewlett-Packard 0898 31.43. I think the chipset (and pretty much everything else in it) is made by VIA, but I'm not entirely sure which one.

You all probably need more info so just let me know what info you need and I'll get it for you.

It might be hopeless, but thanks for reading anyways!

I think Pentium 4's, even mobile ones, used Socket 478. Pentium Ms use Socket 479 (Actually 478 pins, blame Intel for socket naming stupidity), and Core (Duo/Solo) uses Another Type of Socket 479.
