Question Laptop RAM compatibility

I just bought an Asus ROG G531GT with 8gb Single Channel RAM at 2666mhz. I wanted to upgrade that to dual channel 16gb and I found an ADATA Ram module clocked at 2666mhz and was wondering if it would be compatible since in the case of PC's it is recommended to use the exact same ram module but I was wondering if the same applied for laptops.

Same applies, dont mix ram. Ram is only guarenteed in matched kits.

Even buying another identical stick may cause issues, but it has the greatest chance of working.

My Toshiba C55 laptop came from the factory with a 4GB stick at 1.35V and a 2GB stick at 1.5 volts DDR3 so-dim?? Didn't know that would work. Anyway I found and identical 4GB stick online and replace the 2GB , no Issues.

I have mixed ram with luck before, but its not a guarantee.

I put a Samsung 4gb and a similar 8gb stick in a laptop with no problems.
