Laptop ram not fitting !!

Hi,

I am facing a bit weird problem. My old laptop has 1 GB of RAM. So I decided to upgrade it. I bought a 2 GB ram for laptop. So when I brought it to my home and tried to install it, I was surprised to see the RAM was not fitting. See the picture.

So I wonder if there is any way to use the New ram on my old laptop . Please help me out
And please mention why is there difference between the two rams

it's different ram. you need to get the same kind ( type ) that came out. return what you purchased and take your "old" to the shop with you.

there are labels on the side. read them.

The manual for your laptop will specify exactly what type, and how much, RAM it will take. Find the manual at the manufacturers website.

Looks like your old ram was DDR2 SO-DIMM, and new was DDR3 SO-DIMM.

Newer version of the standard, which breaks compatibility but is much faster and more efficient. Take it back and get DDR2 laptop RAM.

That would be it right there you are using DDR2 in your laptop so that is what you will need to get. Just know that most laptop DDR2 ram is going to cost more now adays because it is not used as much as DDR3 and alot of local shops do not even carry DDR2 any longer. Plus alot of local shops will not even take ram CPU's and such back. Good luck.
