Laptop RAM Upgrade to different brand

Hi guys ,

Currently I have a kingston RAM with the following specs :

Manufacturer (ID) Kingston (7F980000000000000000)
Size 4096 MBytes
Max bandwidth PC3-12800 (800 MHz)
Part number HP687515-H66-MCN
Serial number 2E223AC2

I live in India and cannot find a kingston RAM with exact model number on the popular e-commerce websites like amazon or flipkart . Is it safe to go with any kingston RAM with the same frequency , volatge and latencies ? Also , after upgrading how can I know if they are running in dual channel mode ?

You should probably just buy a new 8gb kit rather than trying to mix ram, there's a fairly good chance mixed ram kits will not work right and then you'll be having to deal with random odd computer issues. And in the end still have to buy an 8gb set anyways.

No same problem, you're mixing unpaired kits, it caries the same risk of it not working.

2x4gb kit shouldn't be hard to find.
