I wonder if any one can give me some help and advice. I know my way around a computer, have fixed many computers and have built many computers but this laptop has me stumped.

I have a Acer Predator Helios 300 PH315-51-50PN. Its a gaming laptop that I brought for my son a couple of years ago to use when in hospital. My son has complex medical conditions and spends alot of time in and out of hospital.

He relies on this laptop when in hospital, to do his school work and for playing games and watching videos.

A few months ago we started having problems with the laptop. It started getting quiet hot (80c) and kept randomly turning off then would not turn on at all.

I opened up laptop cleaned fans and re thermal pasted CPU and GPU and replaced power supply and this fixed problem for a while and was able to get laptop to turn on and work fine.

Recently laptop has started to go wrong again. It randomly just dies and when you try to switch it on again it appears mother board and bios has reset as time is wrong and it blue screens.

In order to get computer to boot again I have to go in to bios and adjust harddrive Sata mode settings as when laptop dies and mother board re sets it adjusts hard drive Sata mode to wrong setting so won't boot.

I thought at first maybe it was over heating again although laptop did not feel hot when it would turn off.

Anyway just incase I opened up laptop again, took fans out and replace with new fans as noticed one had a broken fan blade, I re thermal pasted CPU and GPU again and even replaced all thermal pads.

Put laptop back together and it made no difference laptop will work for a while then will randomly shut off and motherboard/ Bios resets.

I monitored temperatures and each time it randomly shut of temperature never went over 70c. So don't think it's overheating.

I then thought maybe it's the cmos battery so replaced the cmos battery and again this made no difference.

I then replaced the power supply again and main laptop battery just to make sure and even that made no difference.

I'm at a loss as to what else it could be

All drivers are up to date, only thing I haven't tried yet is updating Bios as know this can be risky and was leaving this as a last resort. Could it be a problem with Bios Is it worth doing a bios update

Only other thing that might help is that when I reboot laptop and go to event viewer it shows a critical error.
Event ID 41.
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed or lost power unexpectedly.

Can any one give me advice or help on what else I could try to fix laptop.
I really want to fix it as can't afford to buy another right now and my son is devastated.

Thanks in advance

Just to add tonight I have installed OCCT and have been doing some stress tests on laptop. I ran CPU stress test and it ran fine completed full hour with out crashing or turning off. Then did the memory stress test and that went for the full 1 hour and was fine and laptop didn't crash.

I then did power stress test with laptop plugged in and laptop died after 20 minutes.

Tried power stress test again but with laptop unplugged and just on battery. Same thing after 20 minutes laptop died.

Could it be a bad battery?

I'm going to try removing battery tomorrow and see if I can boot and run laptop plugged in without battery and run another stress test.

If computer dies again after 20 minutes surely I can atleast rule out the battery.

Again any advice much appreciated thanks in advance.
