For the past month my laptop has been acting wierd. Under normal workload( gaming, media, Skype and in combinations) my laptpop overheats and shuts downs in less than hour. I say "normal workload" because this was the daily rithm and I never had these temp issues in the past. I used to Skype and play video games at the same time and never pass the 90C temp mark. Now, if I Skype/Listen to YT and game at the same time my laptop shutdows in 10min after reaching the 105C mark.
I've cleared any trace of dust from inside the laptop, cleaned up the thermal paste and added a fresh layer a week ago.
The fan seems to be working but in a strange fashion:
->Between 70-90C the fan blows at it's maximum speed and can be clearly heard
-> >90C the fan slows down as if the laptop would be running idle despite the fact that the temperature keeps rising
There have also been other issues with the laptop:
Networking:
-> If I connect to a Wireless network, the connection will drop after 5-15min at random intervals of the day.
-> If I use the ethernet port(it's a PPOE connexion), things get even trickier:
- sometimes the connexion will drop and can easily reconnected
- all my ethernets icos vanishincluding the PPOE( Win8 sidebar)
- my PPOE icon stays but the ether connection icon vanishes
- same as above but I can't Disable the Ethernet network
About my laptop:
It has a rather new SSD drive installed after the old HDD broke down
Due to the constant temps issues, although none that went this far, many of the platisc orificies that would house screw have melted away, mostly in the Base-Monitor area leaving the lid quite free. It's kept in place only by the keyboard
The laptop is sitting on a cooling stand that has a central fan.
Laptop has the latest drivers.
