Hello all,

I have an Acer laptop with Windows 8.1 and recently just had a BSOD. The message with the BSOD said something along the lines of

Kernal Data inpage error. ":( Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We’re just collecting some info, and then we’ll restart for you. If you would like to know more, you can search online later for this error: luafv.sys." and one time it was "dxgkrnl.sys".

Another time, I had a BSOD again but the message that time was "CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED"

I ran sfc /scannow in safemode and it said it found some errors but was unable to correct some of them. After that I ran a CHKDSK /f /r and I have posted the results here:

Hi, it does work but after a while it will still blue screen. I just got another BSOD after my computer was woken up after being asleep with the message like spaceport.sys something failure. I ran sfc /scannow before and it gave me the message that there were errors but unable to fix some of them. Should I try to run a DISM?

Yes, I do have some games on my PC but I haven't gotten a BSOD during gameplay. Although sometimes everything freezes for a good 5 seconds and I hear that my laptop has become a lot quieter.

How much time does your laptop have?

Look for a S.M.A.R.T. test to see the condition of your HDD. It could be damaged.

If everything is OK, i recommend reformatting your laptop. Make a backup of your data and reinstall windows. If you haven't changed your original OS, use the integrated recovery tool at the BIOS.

While the CHKDSK report is interesting, what would be more helpful is if you posted the log file from the sfc scan as that will tell you what files in windows are actually corrupted. While reformatting will of course solve the problem (and as part of the reformat I would make sure you don't do a quick format on the drive as the full format will help to mark bad clusters) I know many people have too many programs without the keys in a safe place etc.
