1. What is your budget? $1500+ (will go up a bit if there is a good reason to do so)

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? 15 -15.6"

3. What screen resolution do you want? High! 4k is preferred, but I know it may not be possible with the budget

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? Some portability is desired, but this device will be used mostly at home.

5. How much battery life do you need? Not a priority, but again, some portability is nice.

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)? No gaming

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.): light photo / video editing. Looking to learn some basic graphic design programs / everyday office tasks.

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need? SSD, 512gb to 1TB desired

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links. Costco would be nice because of the warranty, but we are fine with any established site.

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop? 3 years plus

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ? None

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons. I don't know much, but would like to pick a brand that has a good track record in terms of reliability.

13. What country do you live in? USA

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed. Wife prefers a laptop that does not have the typical "gaming aesthetic." Looking for a laptop that is reliable and has a fast start up.

Thank you for any assistance that you can provide!

Thank you for the recommendations! Are these options discounted already, or should I keep an eye out for upcoming price reductions for black Friday / Cyber Monday.

Black Friday is when they get rid of unsold product. Rarely are they things you actually want. And many "discounts" are just the MSRP with a price reduction, so sometimes the same product is available before Black Friday/Cyber Monday for less with the regular sale price.

Really it is only a savings if you can get the exact same item for less. If $100 here and there can sway you, then you aren't ready to buy.

The first one is open box, so yes.

Dell always has 'discounts' they aren't really a thing. You will find their prices to be competitive, and they will try to screw you by adding in extra warranty charges and even in home support that they won't disclose to you except as a line item in the bill. That said, you can often randomly get discounts from Dell with discount codes:

50OFF699 as an example. Just try the rough cost of your choice and you will occasionally get a hit. Pretty sure these are scraped off their website regularly, and many of them are employee or internal discount codes.

Also Black Friday has already started at a lot of e-tailers. Doesn't mean as much as it used to.

Perfect example, look at the savings MSRP of $3619, save $1700 off, complete nonsense.
