Laptop repair location

I'll be repairing a laptop for somebody off Craigslist in a bit, and I was wondering where the best place to do it is. In my experience it's a bit awkward to do it in somebody's home, or in your own. I'm thinking of doing it in a library, they have tables that are available all the time, easy to find, what do you guys think? I'm just replacing the screen, so I won't need a lot of tools or anything.

I don't care about being watched, and I don't feel like inviting a guy off craigslist into my house while I work on his computer. "Here, watch me tear apart your computer so you think you can do it yourself when you really can't." I don't think that's the best idea.

well you certainly dont want the owner watching you no matter where you do it. having been an automotive tech for over 30 years i can tell you that you dont do your best work with the owner looking over your shoulder,and believe me,he will. tell him you will call him when its ready.this is standard business practice anyway.

That is true, maybe I will have him drop it off with me at the library and I'll take it home to fix it, and return it an hour and a half later.

General tip - smashed screens = damaged power pin/socket + damaged hdd (depending on how the damaged occurred, how harsh etc)

Dont fall into the "you stuffed it, it was working before you worked on the unit" trap (just saying from experience)

It wasn't smashed, it was cracked, I know how to fix it, that isn't my issue.
