Question Laptop SATA cable missing apparently

I have an ASUS Rog Strix G531 and I was trying to install a 2.5in HDD into the slot to which I noticed I didn't have a cable to attach it to the motherboard.

Can someone help me to find a cable online, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Most attach directly to the laptop motherboard. What cable you want depends on what connector is on the motherboard.

Those cables are proprietary and available only from the manufacturer and are not included if that drive bay did not originally have a drive installed at the factory. You'll have to contact ASUS about price and availability.

So I would not be able to use a third party connector?

I'm not sure how to go about deciphering which I'd need.

Correct. The only place to get that specific cable is ASUS.

The cable used could be less proprietary then you think. Do you have a photo of the cable or at least the connector on the laptop?

The drive should have sata connections. But I don't know what your motherboard connections are.
You should probably contact Asus as suggested above.
