Laptop Screen As Monitor

So today my friend gave me a laptop to work on, but I don't have any monitors or anything and the screen is broken. Is there any way for me to possibly project it to another laptop of mine? I know that the ports are all out and not in, but unfortunately the whole screen is busted on this. I want to see if I should even bother saving it before I go getting a new screen.
