Hi, not sure if this is the right place. My laptop has a 165hz screen but in game settings are lcoked to 60 hz.

right click - display settings shows I have 2 screens. I definitely only have a laptop screen.

When I right click I have AMD Software Adrenaline Edition which is set to game mode. I have gone to Nvidia control panel, set 3d settings to High performance Nvidia processor and under managa display mode, set it to Nvidia GPU only.

Why are 2 monitors showing up? Do i need to stop this somehow? and how do I get 165hz in game?

Please let me know if this is the wrong section.

Thanks

  • Select Start > Settings > System > Display. ...
  • In the Multiple displays section, select an option from the list to determine how your desktop/laptop will display across your screens.
  • Once you've selected what you see on your displays, select Keep changes.
refesh rate

go to advance display and change refesh rate there in dispplay setting

I have set it to dsiplay on 1 and seems to be working, but in game it is locked to 60hz with no option to change it to 165hz, but under display settings it is showing as 165.01 hz

I have Madden NFL 23, no direct setting for refresh rate, but runs over 160FPS so assume this is fine. Have fifa 23 but again no setting actually in game and FPS hovers around 90 so assume this is fine. Just got the Fifa 24 closed beta. Under graphics settings there is a refresh rate setting but it is locked to 60 hz but guess this could be due to it being a beta?

can you use FPS to gauge the refresh rate?

I am also looking at a buying a 165hz QHD monitor to use for gaming. Would this be worth the upgrade over my current laptop display?
