Question Laptop screen flickers and dims. What could be at fault?

Hi, guys.

I have an Acer Aspire ES 14.
At first, the screen flickers then it dims. I can still read everything but it's too dark.

Reading other post with the same problem, the fault could be either the video cable or the LED back light inverter.
How can I check what's at fault?

Generally in situations like this the only way to test is to swap in a different component and see if the problem persists. The cable would be the easier (and cheaper) part to purchase as a test tool.
