Question Laptop screen goes black ?

Laptop model: HP Envy x360 2-in-1

Hey all, my laptop is booting up (it shows the hp spinning logo) but then it goes black. I plugged it into an external display and it was working fine but the laptop's screen remained black. I know the display is functional because it shows the hp logo while booting. Why would it be black after booting up and how can I fix it? I've rebooted and power cycled already. .

Probably drivers in the OS.
