The laptop is a older HP, model# CQ60-615DX. The laptop powers on normally, no beeps or flashing lights indicating error. The screen lights on but stays black with a dash "-" symbol on the top left corner.
I have tried fixing the laptop by replacing the ram, HDD, removing the CMOS battery for a few minutes, then reconnecting, holding the power button, pressing the Ctrl Alt F# buttons, I connected the laptop to another monitor, popped in a OS installer, and nothing has worked. Turning on the laptop with ram or hdd, the sound beeps and flashing lights began, showing the error messages work.
My best guess is the CMOS battery needs to be replaced, or something is wrong with the motherboard. Any suggestions would be nice, could not find any help searching through forums, this is my last option.
