Laptop screen white

I have a HP pavilion laptop and at first it had horizontal white stripes across the screen but now the screen is completely white what can i do?

if i attach a monitor it boots up normal but the screen on the laptop is still white

and if have reseated the cable twice

Based on your description "it had horizontal white stripes across the screen" the screen was damaged somehow internally. This can be fixed by replacing the screen.

After it boots to the white screen press ctrl+alt+esc and check out the running processes. I remember back in January there was a "vius" going around that ran a process called "whitescreen.exe" at startup.
