Laptop Security Software?

I'm looking at purchasing a new Lenovo laptop and I'm wondering what everyone would recommend for Antivirus software, Management/Diagnostics Software, and any other security software you use and recommend?

We fix/remove viruses in my shops...

On our OWN machines we have Norton Internet Security 2013 and Malwarebytes (ONLY)

I'm a fan of Microsoft Security Esssentials, personally (Windows Defender as of W8).

Question: Will the new laptop have Windows 7 or 8 on it? If W8, it comes with Defender included.
