Hello everyone. I'm trying to help my neighbor out with an issue she's having. She has a router set up for Internet. All of her computers work fine on it, but one, her laptop. It see's the router, and connects to it. However, when connected to the router, the laptop will not connect to the Internet. I took the laptop to my home, where I also have a router set up. It connected to my router, and was able to connect to the Internet with no problems. The operating system is Windows 7.

So, there's got to be something wrong over there at her house. If any of you can tell me why you think this is happening, please let me know. I am not terribly Network savvy, so please speak in simple terms when you reply. Thanks.

If you can log into your router via the IP address given, the user name and password
That you should find on a sticker on the underside of your router, or the back then do so.

Have a look once in the router at the settings of the wifi signal.
Take note of the standard or speed it is broadcasting at.

Example : 54g N-150 N-300

Simply return to your friends house with the router in question by following the same instructions.
Once in the router I think you will find the speed setting differs or is set higher.
Simply lower it to what your settings were, or the lowest speed setting of say 54g
And the laptop should work fine after that on the wifi of her router also.
