Laptop suddenly died, no signs of life

Hi guys,

Bought a refurbished hp dv6 off eBay about 3 weeks ago that I’ve been using for streaming and very light gaming. Had no issues with it so far(apart from it getting hot fairly easily but I’m told this is always an issues with these laptops)

I was using it before and it suddenly died, it made a quick beeping type noise and turned off as if the power had been cut(even though it was fully charged). No lights come on at all when the charger is plugged in.

Since then I’ve tried unplugging the power supply, removing battery and holding power button for 30 seconds and nothing. I tried removing the battery and plugging in the charger and noticed the laptop around where the battery connects heated up somewhat which seemed strange. I am using a 3rd party charger btw as the laptop had no charger when i bought it.


Any advice on this will be great. If it seems the laptop is completely dead then I can at least try for an eBay refund

Hi, what happened is the charging circuit became defective, the laptop doesn't work with the adapter and the battery.

Not likely according to the diagnosis. You should try to get a refund ASAP. Hopefully they let you get your money back within that 30-day time limit.
