Hi,
My laptop's Qualcomm Atheros AR956x Wireless Network Adapter supports 802.11b 802.11g 802.11n according to CMD command netsh wlan show drivers
I've been to Qualcomm Atheros AR956x Wireless Network Adapter Properties, Advanced tab and in Wireless Mode Selection chosen Value 5.b/g/n - but still cannot see my dual band router's 5Ghz network (it's a Canadian Bell router).
Other laptops and smartphones can see the 5G network without any problems. What am I missing?

Solution
I am going to bet the card only runs on 2.4g.

802.11b and 802.11g only run on 2.4g. 802.11n can run on both you generally see the cards that can run on both also list 802.11a which is a 5g only protocol. If the card supported 802.11ac then you know for sure it has to run 5g but 802.11n does not mean it runs on 5g.

Because it does not list 802.1a support I am going to bet the card is not a dual frequency card. You need to look the specs up for the device.
