Laptop to LCD VGA Hook-up

Why are we only receiving the desktop background picture and the mouse moving on our OLEVIA LCD TV. We have connected a Belkin VGA/SVGA Video Cable from laptop with Windows XP software to OLEVIA Model 242

Things are working perfectly; you need to drag Windows into your LCD TV to see them, and Windows usually doesn't extend the taskbar across multiple displays.
