Laptop to monitor

I have a laptop with 60hz screen. Can I connect it to a 144hz monitor and get 144 fps or just 60

a 60Hz monitor can only display upto 60 frames sent to it by the Graphics card. a 144Hz monitor can only display upto 144 frames sent to it by the Graphics card. if you connect the laptop to a 144Hz monitor, the monitor will be able to display upto 144 FPS sent to it by the laptops graphics card.
