My laptops touchpad has a delay if I leave it idle for around 5 seconds. It takes about half a second for my initial tap to respond. The delay is only there if I leave the touchpad idle for around 5 seconds, and the length of the delay is reduced if my laptop is charging or is running on high performance mode. Any idea how to fix this?

Are you on the latest BIOS update for your laptop? On that note, are all your drivers installed and up to date? You might need Synaptics or Elantech drivers in order to get the optimal performance out of the track as opposed to the generic drivers.

all drivers up to date and installed. I've tried both ELAN and Synaptics drivers as the Acer website offers both. I haven't done a BIOS update yet, because people are saying you shouldn't do it as it might brick the laptop.
