Hello.
I have replaced HDD disk with Samsung 1TB SSD in my old Lenovo Ideapad laptop (Ideapad 100-15ibd).
I have installed latest Ubuntu on SSD. After booting from ssd disk laptop runs like few minutes and powers off. It happens every time.
I have replaced the thermal paste on the cooling system because I thought that CPU is overheating.
It did not help - the laptop was powering off the same way. I have checked CPU temp by lm-sensors and it was at 36-38 degrees. I cannot check disk temp by hddtemp, but I have touched disk cover when laptop was disassembled and running and it was cool.
I have ran the laptop un Ubuntu from USB stick and it operated smoothely without powering off. After switching to Ubuntu on SSD it still powers off. Comparing the two runs (on USB stick and SSD), on SSD the cooling fan turns on very quickly on full speed under a minute after the turning on of the laptop. On The USB stick the fan doesnt turn on or it is very quiet. It seems that the computer senses falsely that the disk is overheating, tries to cool it, and has to turn off. The question is can I do something about it or I have to switch to old hdd?
