So I picked up a refurbished Dell laptop for cheap several years ago and it's still working fine, but I'd like to upgrade my ram and storage. Since it is an older laptop though I just want to double check hardware compatibility before I order anything, just to make sure.
It's a Dell Inspiron 15 5585
AMD Ryzen 5 3500U processor with Radeon Vega Mobile Graphics
8 GB RAM
BC501 NVMe SK Hynix 256GB SSD
I'm fairly confident I can swap out my current SSD for a Samsung 980 and just do a clean OS install.
As for the RAM, I found a couple kits on Amazon that might work: PNY 2x16 kit | HP 2x8 kit
I mainly just want to get a couple more eyes to check the compatibility here, but if you have any other suggestions or advice I'd appreciate it.
//Edit: Found some info advising against putting a pcie 4.0 nvme SSD into a laptop -> how about a Samsung 980?
