Hello,

I need to start by saying I have never done upgrades to a laptop. I have however built many desktops. My daughter bought a Lenova Ideapad 110 15 80tj00lrus. She says it is slow as a brick. Can anyone give me any suggestions for upgrades? I am thinking a new ssd drive and ram. I believe it is ddr3. It has 4 gigs now of ram and a 500 gig HDD. Also is it possible to put windows 7 64 bit on this system or am I stuck with windows 10?

Thanks all
Ed

An SSD is a great idea. To do the upgrade, download the latest windows 10 ISO from Microsoft to a flash drive. And format the SSD with it. Because the current machine has already activated Win10 on it, you won't have to enter the product key.
Not sure why you think Win7 is better.

4GB of RAM is enough if you don't have a thousand Chrome tabs open at a time. Seems like Windows wants/needs 3GB on light daily use though. Certainly adding another 4GB gives you plenty of breathing room.
Most probably you are struck with Windows 10, there RE probably no Windows 7 drivers.

Whether you can upgrade RAM and storage - take a look whether there are any access covers. Being conventional laptop, this should be easy. Go to sites like crucial.com to see what memory options you have.
