I am not sure where to post this, but I was wondering what you guys think about this.

I have an old laptop with a intel dual-core cpu 1,7ghz with 2 gigs of ram. It's fairly slow, but still usable. I am taking CISCO classes and computers are provided in class, but I would like to bring my own laptop as it would make my life much easier.

Anyway, I was wondering, if I install a ssd inside that laptop would I have a brand new laptop? I mean, would I see a significant upgrade in the speed? basically, is it worth it?

please let me know what you think...

Cheers

Solution
I just put in a 128 gig crucial mx100($65) in a 7 year old gateway laptop with a 1.6 ghz duel core cpu. Difference is night and day.
Well, you wouldn`t see the performance you would get from a better laptop equipped with an SSD, but still the speed difference should be noticeable compared to what you have now.
Also, you can just remove the SSD later on and put in into a new PC or laptop when you decide to switch to something new.

ah! That's gold! Thanks for your input, that's what I was hoping to read. I'll get a 240gig ssd for 100$CDN. and like Pr3di said, I can always use it later for something else.

Thanks a lot :)
