Hi,

I bought a Zmuipng USB Type C Multiport Adapter so that I could plug all my devices into the port and just connect that to the USB C port on my laptop to create a docking station. I thought this is how it works - maybe I am being a bit nieve, but the power is not passing through.

So I have connected my laptop power cable which is USB C, HDMI monitor, a wireless mouse and keyboard, a USB webcam and charging my phone via USB to the multiport and then connected the multiport to the USB C port on my laptop.

The devices are working OK through the port (although mouse & keyboard is a bit sticky), but the power is not passing through and from what I could gather from the Amazon advert it supports this.

What am I doing wrong? Have I got the concept wrong? Have a bought the wrong type of USB C multiport/docking? Do I need to change some settings on windows?

Does the laptop need to support passthrough charging? I wouldn't have thought so right as the power should just pass through. Do I need to get a charger that is higher than the 45W increase the power to the multipower like 100W maybe?

Can someone help me troubleshoot and solve this issue?

Kind regards.

Brendon.

"Note: The hub will occupy 10W of power to work and if your laptop own a AC adapter, you'd better use the original charger directly cause it will provide the fastest charge speed and HP/Dell Laptop do not allow 3rd party charger to charge their laptop."

The original power cable to my laptop plugs into its USB C port so I can't connect the power to the laptop as well as the multiport adapter which is why I thought the pass through charging would work. If I get a USB C power adapter off amazon that is 55W (or greater) would that work e.g. give 45W to the laptop and 10W to power the multiport adapter?
