Laptop using unusual amounts of data

My laptop is passive on the network, but it uses more than 100mb per hour from just sitting on google home page. Yes I tested that because I got into trouble at the office.

Launch Resource monitor and check disk/network sections.
It will show, what your laptop is downloading/writing to disk.
Probably windows updates going on there.
