Laptop wifi not working

My wifi adaptor on my laptop is not working? It's telling me that a cable is not connected but I'm not using a LAN line. My wifi has been working for several months now my laptop won't connect via wifi? Please help?

Note: The wifi icon that it usually displayed at the bottom right corner of the screen is no longer there?

The WiFi adapter inside your laptop may be faulty so it's no longer being detected. You can fix that by using a USB wireless adapter:

Did you accidentally turn it off via a keyboard shortcut (Fn + F2 or similar). Do you have a physical switch or button to turn wifi on/off?
