I have an HP Pavilion notebook, model t9y49av. The router is an ACTIONTEC M1424WR REV.1. I have three; laptops, one desktop, two cellphones, and 1 printer connected to the router. All three laptops worked about 1 month ago. I have disabled Nortons for 15 minutes and rebooted and still can not connect. I have gone to the device manager and there are no red X's or anything else. I tried to upgrade drivers on what I could and was told they are the lastest. When I try and get on the internet I see my router but it will not connect. WI-FI is turned on on the computer. I thought maybe the password that was saved was corrupted so I reentered it twice and still can not get on the internet.
I hard wired the laptop to the router and at first, I was told it would not connect. Then the computer said something was wrong with the DHCP and fixed it. One funny point is that on the laptop that I can not get on the internet I can see the desktop and copy files to the laptop. The desktop can not see the laptop at all.

As stated I can get the internet with a direct wire to the router. I have 3 other computers and TV's , and cellphones, security hooked up to the router and the internet is no problem.

On the laptop run "ipconfig /all" (without quotes) via the Command Prompt. Post the results.

Also run "arp -a" and post those results.

Then do the same for the other working/connecting devices but just print out the results for possible future reference.

Does the following link present the User Manual for your router?

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/525864/Actiontec-Mi424-Wr.html

Verify that I have identified the correct router and manual.

I did try and disable the Nortons firewall and virus and restart the computer. It did not work.

The other point is before I was able to see my desktop and transfer filesbetween computers. Now I CAN NOT. Now some times I do see the desktop and still can not transfer files.

When I typed >arp-a or > arp-a or >arp -a , The > is just to show where I typed the arp-a on the command line. I did not get any results. Or I just got that it was not recognized. It did not work on two other computers.
From what I can see the site for the manual is correct. Later I am going to call Verizon and see if they can help with the fios.

Here is the IPCONFIG/AA FROM LAPTOP---

Use an ethernet cable to connect the laptop to the router.

Enable the wired network adapter via Device Manager.

Then doublecheck and reconfigure the wired network adapter to permit the laptop rejoin the network.

Also:

"WIN" + "I" > Network & Security > Status

will take you to the necessary network adapter configuration screens.

Then try "arp -a" again via the Command Prompt (remember no quotes).

I do not know why but I have internet service now. WHY??? I have had Verizon restart the router a few times to test it. I had done that also but for now, I have internet service. Was told my router is 8-9 years old. I am going to get a new one soon. It might help when my wife looks at videos and TV.
THANKS FOR HELPING
