Laptop will not connect, though other devices do.

My windows 7 HP laptop will connect to the wifi network in the office, but will not connect to the internet. my phone and other laptops will connect just fine. My only solution is to reset the modem. I take this laptop home every night and typically work on it using my home wifi and it works fine. Note that if I connect to the internet at work, go home and DO NOT use the laptop, then it connects fine the next day. I do not think it is a modem issue, though since nobody else has the same issues....however it is interesting that the only way to connect is to reset the modem.

Umm, what do you mean by "will not connect to the Internet?" Do you mean that while it's on the office wifi it can't see the Internet? Or are you referring to some other kind of connection to the Internet where it's not going through the office or home WiFi?

Is it possible that there is an authorization issue with your office infrastructure? I've had problems where machines with different ranges of IP addresses assigned by the DHCP server had access to different things.

When running the diagnostics, it states that it is connecting to the wifi (by name), but is not connecting to the internet. When the diag is complete, it always states to reset the modem. This works every time. Sadly, this could happen daily if I use the laptop at home each night. I have removed the wifi connection from my computer, restarted, let it find the wifi connection, login, etc. Always with the same result; it connects to the wifi connection, but does not connect to the internet (it is not getting out of the router). I have checked all the drivers on my machine and they say they are all up to date.

what security is being used at work. With my previous job customer used to have similar issues if they changed the default security from WPA/WPA2 to WEP. Some newer laptops want extra authentication after connecting because they think WEP is week or something (which it is).
