I was going to turn off my laptop, and for some reason when I clicked the power button, nothing would happen after several tries and minutes of waiting. Hasn't happened before, so I just held the power button for 6 seconds, and when I tried to turn it on again later it would show the windows 8 logo and would then sit at a black screen for an infinite amount of time. The first time I go to the BIOS I can't seem to get it to go anywhere else, if i save and exit it'll go black for a second and reload the BIOS, if I just exit without saving it still comes back. Same with ctrl alt delete. Also tried turning off fast boot, changed nothing. What should I do?

Unfortunately the reasons i can think of are a bit ugly.
Its possible your windows start up files got corrupted. if so a reinstall of windows might be needed.
Another could be that there is a cable loose from your hard drive to your motherboard. If you think this, only open it if you, yourself, are confident that you can close your laptop back in after opening it (its can be difficult and easy to screw up). If not best to refer to a technician or someone who had prior experience.

You should be able to.
But its recommended that if you do hook the hard drive up to a different computer, scan it for viruses / malware before you move anything off of it. Wouldnt want the other comp to be infected if the hard drive is.
Windows can get corrupt for a number of reasons but viruses can have a hand in it as well.

I forgot we are talking about a laptop here. If you are going take the hard drive out, do proceed with caution taking it out is one thing, but putting it back in is the hard part
