Laptop will only boot with Legacy mode bios

Hey guys! My laptop was giving me a "No Bootable Device" message when I turned it on. I switched the Bios boot mode from UEFI to Legacy and it worked fine and booted. My question is, what happened to my laptop? And how do I fix it so I can go back to using UEFI? Is there any drawbacks to using Legacy?

EDIT: I should add that before this, the laptop wouldn't turn on at all. The lights would lighten up like it was turning on, but then it just turned off. I literally picked it up and shook it and then somehow it worked. Yes, I know it sounds stupid...

open up the laptop and make sure the HDD is firmly attached. (should be an access door on bottom)
no, not any "real" drawbacks to using legacy, only now Microsoft can't stop you now from running Linux...
if the hdd is in place i know its possible that certain windows updates can "break" the way certain BIOS's handle UEFI.
