I have a Toshiba Satellite a665-s6086 laptop and for the past few weeks it has been really slow (confirmed through speedtest). When I disable the internal wireless and plug in a USB adapter (Netopia ter/gusb2-n) it is a lot faster. Speedtest (Comcast) shows download speed of .89 with the internal and 14.89 with the USB stick. What could be the matter?

Hi,

When it comes down to wireless, it could be the router has wireless problems, could be a faulty adapter.
You could also be getting interference because the area you are in is saturated.

Do you have other wireless device around, do they work ok ?

Yes, they do. At first I thought it was the router, but it is not. As I said, when the USB Wireless adapter is plugged into the laptop, everything works good. Then I remove it, connect with the internal wireless and it is slow. Refer to the first post for speed differences.
