Question Laptop with a broken screen no longer outputting HDMI signal

I have a laptop with a broken Lcd that is primarily used with an external monitor. I took the hard drive out, plugged it into a desktop computer, and reinstalled Windows on the drive. I put the drive back into the laptop and it no longer outputs and HDMI signal. I can hear sounds from the laptop when I plug something in and out I just can't see anything.

Try hitting Windows key then with P it should change which output you wanna use and enter.
First would be windows + P your Broken LCD then press twice for Duplicate then Extended and last is external. (In my case of Windows 10)

you can't install windows on different hardware. Now you don't have a laptop.

Thanks for the help but I've done this plenty of times, just not with a broken Lcd laptop lol

I have a solution: remove hard drive again, put back in desktop, install Unified Remote and verify Remote Screen functionality, put the hard drive back in the laptop, and finally screw around till I get some output. Boom I'm a genius
