[SOLVED] Laptop with Intel and nVidia graphics

i have an old laptop with Intel HD Graphics 4000 AND nVidia GForce HD710 2GB ... is this a bad thing ? should i remove one and keep the other ?

You cannot remove one. The laptop is designed to switch between them depending on the type of workload.

Intel HD graphics is the igpu built into the chipset. You physically cannot remove that. The HD710 is an add-in card that may or may not be removable, sometimes soldered directly to the mobo, sometimes on a daughter board attached to the mobo, sometimes a socketed pcb that can be changed. Either way, the 710 is stronger than the igpu, and as old as that laptop is, removing it will just make things worse.

Good idea. It's not often that removing essential components actually increases performance. Some idiots even go as far at disabling the igpu, then deleting the drivers to try and guarantee that the add-in card is always used. Only to find out they are stuck since a laptops main purpose is battery savings, so will use the igpu for windows, and the add-in card for heavy lifting.
