laptop wont connect to home wife but will connect to hotspot, why?

My laptop is new and wont connect to home wifi. All other devices and computers in house will. I set up hotspot on phone and it will connect to that.

Does it see the home WiFi? Also, the modem/router for your home WiFi what it it broadcasting at 2.4GHz or 5GHz? Or both? That will make a difference as well. Every device runs on one or the other, some newer ones on both.
