I've had a Precision 7710 for about a year now and things have been great until the past few months I've noticed the batter wasn't charging consistently. It would start charging, then stop at certain percentages. Finally, it stopped charging completely. At this point, it also stopped operating on batter power, even though the batter gauge showed there was still 90% capacity. I pulled the battery out and saw that it was swollen in a spot, so I figured the battery was busted. I purchased a new battery this week and have the same symptoms. The battery started charging when I installed it, but it stopped charging at 42%. When I pull the power cord and try to go on battery power, the laptop shuts down immediately as if there is no batter installed.
Is this new battery bad also, or do I have something else going on?
