laptop wont start anymore

hello, I have a dell inspiron 1525,
everytime I open it, it gives me a blackscreen with " No boot sector on internal drive" , heres what I have tried so far
bought a new HD and plugged it in,
tried to boot from usb/dvd drive
did a "diagnostic"
now im kinda lost... any idea whats going on,
prior to this the laptop was working fine beside needing to be hooked in ("charging") to actually work

You have no boot option selected, assuming you are on windows because it is a dell you need to go into your bios and select the windows boot for the first option if you have windows installed on the new hirddrive. To install windows you need to get your version of windows ISO formatted on a USB, then you would change your fist boot option to the USB and once windows is installed check to make sure the windows boot is selected for your first boot option.
