I have a Asus XM551MAV SX262D Notebook
RAM Type - DDR3
RAM - 2 GB
Processor Variant - Quad Core N3530
RAM Frequency - 1600 MHz
Graphic Processor - Intel HD Graphics
HDD Capacity - 500 GB
Processor Name -Pentium Quad Core
Processor Brand - Intel
Clock Speed - 2.16 GHz with Burst Frequency upto 2.58 GHz

I used Windows on it for 2 years without any problems but it takes a lot of time to load anything so I came across a Linux distro called as Cloudready. It was blazing fast and very good but always used to freeze after using it for 20 - 30 mins. By freeze I mean touchpad , keyboard , sound everything stops working and display stays frozen with a still picture until I hard reset it. I tried reinstalling many times, used both 64 bit version and 32 bit version. After lot of searches for a stable OS I came to know that Ubuntu is very stable so I installed it on my notebook. The setup went smoothly and after using it for an hour the laptop froze same way as it used to happen on CloudReady. I tried changing different settings in BIOS but nothing worked 🙁 Please help me I don't want to go back to Windows.
P.S - I installed all OS's on UEFI as I have read that it is better and I am doing Clean Installation every time.

Solution
Ubuntu Mate will run lighter than regular old Ubuntu. It is also a very good looking well received variant of Ubuntu.

Lubuntu is an Ubuntu variant that is very lightweight.

LXLE a more stable form of lubuntu

Puppy Linux very very lightweight. Should make your computer feel brand new it runs so fast.

Ubuntu itself should run just fine on your machine by the way. It might be worth updating it to make sure you are not missing essential drivers, thus causing your issues. "sudo apt-get update && apt-get upgrade"

Not much anyone can say without seeing any logs or if it is reproducible event. Typically a crash like this (across distribution especially) is related to hardware issue causing kernel panic. Bad stick of ram, CPU overheat etc.... Could also be a software issue specific to your motherboard...
