Question Laptop's lid closed

I forgot to turn off my HP laptop and I closed the lid, I'm not sure whether it's on sleep or still on. I left it that way, it's possible that it will stay that way for a few days. Is there a possibility of overheating and fire? Thanks in advance

No they are set up to go to sleep when you close the lid. It should be just fine

If it's in a laptop bag and it wakes up form sleep, it may overheat. Not close enough to a fire, but it may crash the system or do some component damage.
