Laptop's RAM sticks getting hot @ idle

Hi, I have an ASUS K56 notebook. Bought it with 12 Gb of RAM. One 8gb stick and one 4gb stick. At idle, ram modules get so hot I can't even touch the plastic backplate that's covering them. Is it because uneven RAM sticks? Let me know what you think!
My laptops isn't overclocked in any ways, has an i7, GT635M Graphics, 500Gig HDD. CPU and GPU don't get hot, only the RAM sticks. Thanks

My memory usage when i'm using chrome is about 2.5Gb and when gaming in never goes beyond 4Gb
