Hi everyone. I´m really calling for help right now. I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Extreme Gen3 Type 20TK with 16GB of RAM DDR4, intel i7-10750H and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 TI. After pressing the power button laptop turns on but it just gives me a black screen and fans are really loud (No windows or Lenovo Logo). I have to press again the power button for the laptop to turn off and after a couple of trys (turning the laptop off and on with power button) laptop turns on normally. I already try a cuple of things:

BIOS
I try to update BIOS version with the BIOS software utility from the lenovo support website but i already have the latest version (N2VET42W, 1.27) and trying with 1.26 version does not help either. I also try reseting BIOS by unplugging CMOS battery but it didn´t work. Entering BIOS and do a factory reset didn´t work.

INTEL AND NVDIA DRIVERS
triying to update or downgrade dirvers didn´t work. I currently have intel uhd graphics version 30.0.101.1692 and NVIDIA version 31.0.15.2890. Latest versions both of them.

OPERATING SYSTEM
I have windows 10 right now (22H2 compilation 19045.3086) but trying windows 11 did not solve the problem

HARDWARE
Trying a diferrent RAM and even a different NVMe did not solve the problem. Here is worth to notice that NVMe is completly new, 500gb. Changing thermal paste, cleaning the laptop, unplugging keyboard and track pad did not work. Disconnecting battery laptop and doing a power drain solves the problem momentarily but after turning off and on the laptop gives me a black screen again.
EDIT: Trying with a external monitor does not solve the problem. Plugging an external monitor does not show image or video. LCD cable or screen are completly new and does not seem to be the root cause of the problem.

I know is a long post but as you can see i already try a coulpe of things but nothing seems to solve the problem and its really frustating and sad that my laptop does not work properly.
I hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Entering BIOS and do a factory reset didn´t work.
This just means your laptop and it's BIOS/motherboard are in working order. Your OS and or your drive might be the one that's conked out. Can you see the OS drive showing up in BIOS?

Thanks for the reply. The answer is: yes i can see my NVMe ssd in the BIOS. Its a completely new ssd(Gigabyte gen3) . I even ran a diagnostic tool that i downloaded from the lenovo support website (it runs a harware test) and it didn´t show any errors in motherboard, RAM memory, NVDIA chip, intel chip, LCD screen or any other hardware. The OS that i have it is supposedly the latest version (windows 10 pro 22H2 compilation 19045.3086 and windows update does not give any other option) but i also tried with windows 11 and that did not solve the problem. I only have one ssd installed but trying with a different one didn't solve the problem. What am I doing wrong? what am i missing?

my toshiba satellite did something very similar. I don't think what worked for me will necessarily work for you but i'll list it regardless.
-first, i would type cmd in windows search bar and open a command line as an administrator.
-second, i would type systeminfo and press enter, write down the results,
then type wmic cpu get, press enter. if any of its results are different than from the prior cmd, write it down.
-third, type chkdsk followed by your drive letter, so
chkdsk C: and press enter. this will scan the entire file system and attempt to fix any errors.
-forth, type sfc /scannow and press enter. this will scan the windows operating system itself, boot drive, recovery drive, all the important stuff. any damaged files will be removed and replaced automatically.

side note: do you remember when it started doing this? approximately? try this, in the windows search bar, start typing the word "reliability", you should see "view reliability report". open that.
in the timeline it provides, navigate to when the issue started. Among the critical events, warnings, and informational events, i'll bet you find the reason for your black screen issue.

fifth, try the repair options in the windows recovery environment. from the login screen, click on the power button, then, while holding down the shift key, click restart. this should take you into the windows recovery environment. you can also try doing a regular restart and as soon as it starts to boot, press and/or hold the power button to turn it off. repeat this two more times and it will automatically take you to WINRE.

if none of that does the trick, let me know and we'll delve a little deeper. good luck.

edit... forgot what fixed mine...
With laptop plugged in and turned on, remove all usb peripherals . turn your laptop off. unplug your laptop. remove your laptop battery. flip it over. Now try removing your CMOS battery again. with all that removed, flip it back over. hold down the power button for 60-100 seconds to COMPLETELY and utterly drain all power from every circuit. then, replace your cmos battery(preferably with a new battery), reinsert your battery, plug your laptop in, turn it on. This is what fixed my black screen issue.
