large format inkjet printer question...

Does canon make an inkjet printer that does larger then 13x19 inch size with
tanks that can be refilled (bci-6 series)? I know hp makes the designjet 130
& 110plus series & can you refill these?

The largest i'm aware of is the ip9900 which is an A3+ printer (13" x
19""

I'm only aware of their W series printers... between $2,000 and $20,000
IIRC. They don't take the bci-6 inks. I'm not aware of anything A1
sized (23.4 x 33.1)that'll fit on a desk. The W6400 24IN wide (canon
mistaken calls these large format) you can have for I believe under
$4000. The HP DJ 130 is well also 24 and costs about 1/4 the price.

It's i9950 (9900) not iP. It isn't a Pixma, it's an 'i' series.

Just saw a Canon W6400 large format photo printer yesterday. Apparently it is a
newly released printer. It uses 6 colors of ink (black, C, M, Y, PC and PM).
There are two black inks one for matt and the other for glossy photo paper.
The inks are pigmented inks. I was told it is selling around $2400. The cartridges
are no longer BCI-6 cartridges. They are much larger ones. I think each holds
about 100 to 200 ml of ink. The cartridges are connected through tubes to a
removable printhead.

You ,mean they've taken all this time to get to where Epson where 5
years ago? ;-)

They've had pigmented inks on commercial printers for some time now. I
honestly don't know how well it works over a long period of time... i'm
told their pro wides are rooted in thermal bubblejet technology(I take
this with a grain of salt I honestly don't know). I don't see them
often as their price is pretty high. I wouldn't expect them to offer
pigments on their consumer line anytime soon.

I had no clue the w6400 was so cheap though.... still a pretty penny.
