Large temperature disparity between MSI Afterburner and CoreTemp

I'm trying to gauge the temperature of my cores and performance of my hardware using both CoreTemp and MSI afterburner. But for some reason there is a large disparity between my CPU core temperature measurements in both bits of software. Why is this and which is more accurate?

Use HWINFO.
